When Powerpoint fails, you should always be able to switch effortlessly back to techniques used back in the day. Which is not to say that nowadays teachers don't use the blackboard anymore, on the contrary. And I always feel that a whiteboard, while perhaps superior on the usability front, doesn't deliver the experience of a classic blackboard.
