OLD CHAPEL DOOR AND THE VAGABOND

Straight off, sorry about the weird angle but this little chapel sits right above a cliff. I could not get far enough away to shoot it head on. (Just one step back dear....) I had to stand to one side. I did enlist the assistance of Il Vagabondo, friend to all, who sat very nicely in hopes of a reward. He is the cause of many telephone calls and many returns to owner by car. He has his daily rounds.

This is where the friar or priest stands to deliver his prayers at the local festa. The singers stand where I was standing and the rest of us look up from the road below. The chapel is no longer used, obviously. I don't even understand why it is there because right across the road, at the bottom of the cliff, is the old monastery. You would think there were enough places to pray in there. This little chapel sits in the midst of pine and olive trees and is a very pleasant spot.

There is a large farmhouse above it on the same land so perhaps the original owner of that, in want of religious merit, had it built. The farm house is not a villa, the usual place for private chapels.
