On the move

Today we made our first meaningful step towards moving permanently to Bristol.

We visited a number of lettings agents and have made arrangements to see three city centre flats tomorrow.

Wednesday was going to be a day at the seaside, but that has now been put on hold for 24 hours.

My wife and I both work in Bristol, so it makes perfect sense to live there, too. However, for bureaucratic reasons, we will not be able to sell our house until January at the earliest - hence the attempt to rent somewhere for the time being.

We've already viewed the exteriors of the flats we are interested in and all are reasonably okay.

The most frustrating experience of the day was thinking that one of our target flats was in a smart block on the waterfront directly opposite Brunel's ship the SS Great Britain.

It would have been idyllic. However, it turned out to be the other side of a busy main road with the view of the famous ship blocked out altogether.

Never mind - internally it could be the flat of dreams! Here's hoping.

The photo, by the way, was taken towards the end of our gruelling walk around the city.
