Hum, smallest town in the world

Today, a baking hot day in the 40s, we visited the self-proclaimed "smallest town in the world", Hum, situated on a hill above the Mirna valley in the heart of Istria, 10km from Buzet. It has a population of only 14 inhabitants, but is officially a town, and a Guinness World Record holder.

It is, however, a beautiful and tranquil place. A glorious retreat from the rest of the world, once the tourists had departed. I could have moved in straight away.

Hum has only two streets with the gate, museum, and Church of St. Jerome, which dates from the 12th century.

Along the road from the town of Roc to Hum is the Glagolitic avenue, a memorial avenue of monuments from the history of the Glagolitic alphabet.
