Long Slow Distance

The glorious Chain Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the River Danube between Buda and Pest, the western and eastern sides of Budapest. The bridge was designed by the English engineer William Tierney Clark in 1839, and construction was supervised by Scottish engineer Adam Clark (no relation), a larger version of Tierney Clark's Marlow Bridge, over the Thames.

The bridge has a special significance for Ildi and I: while most couples have a song, we have a bridge. And a fine one it is. Whenever I see it, I think of her.
