Grey

Aberystwyth is a grey town - grey stone houses, grey slate roofs, grey pebble beach and grey sea - and this morning it seemed particularly grey. (It's also very beautiful, with so many interesting architectural details on its Victorian and Georgian buildings.) I liked the way these two figures looked like large gulls perching on the jetty, watching the rough cold waves come in.

It was a sad visit, but in a way the unexpectedness of it and the sadness meant that I noticed the town in more detail than usual. We'll be back again next week when our friends from the Midi join us for a holiday which we've been planning for months - showing French and Occitan speakers from the Languedoc around Wales.
