Cauchie house

Continuing on the art nouveau theme of yesterday, with this picture of the Cauchie house that was built in 1905 by architect Paul Cauchie. The house is located next to the Jubelpark (Parc du Cinquantenaire).

The Cauchie house is an example of "total art". The architect Paul Cauchie designed this house for himself and his wife and together they filled their home with their own art (paintings, wall coverings, furniture etc.). Their intention is also stated in the scraffiti on the façade of the house between the two windows: "Par Nous - Pour Nous" (By Us - For Us). The inside is supposed to be beautiful too!
