not fooling anyone

Election posters cling to stone, they've faded, lost their colour
are ripped with time, with passing hands of children, reaching out
as they walk by.

The paper has worked itself into the stone
and it will never
come out,
and pale blue is all that is left of the vivid colour
and promises
of change, progress, a better life.

They're not fooling anyone.
