Chasing the Monsoon - Day 2

Day - 2

The itinerary for the day was quite simple. A long 6 hrs walk in the heavy rain, through a slushy track to the nearby railhead at Lonavla.

The walk was pretty simple with rain adding to the fun. The view of Sahyadris was getting better and better in the trail. After crossing a few streams (including a big one), we were back on an unpaved road. A pleasant walk for a while took us to a small hamlet with a beautiful backdrop of the mighty Sahyadris. A wooden bridge with a stream flowing underneath it, a tall lush green mountain with 2 giant waterfalls struggling to reach the bottom were all scenes directly from a fairyland. A quick walk to the corner revealed we were actually on top of a giant waterfalls!

A long walk from there, we were actually back to civilization in a couple of hours time. The destination 'Lonavla', though considered as one of the best tourist destinations of the country, just looked like a concrete jungle to me after having an intimate conversation with mother nature in the mountains!

I definitely cherish those marvelous monsoon moments in the mountains with a wonderful group of trekkers. Nature has its own way of bringing people together and making them friends for life!
