What a Queer Bird the Frog Are

What a queer bird the frog are
When he sit he stand (almost)
When he walk he fly (almost)
When he talk he cry (almost)
He ain't got no sense, hardly
He ain't got no tail, neither, hardly
He sit on what he ain't got, hardly

The tree frogs have been quite loud at night, but I haven't heard the bullfrogs since we returned from the UK. Usually we hear them harrumphing until September. We've had so little rain this summer that the pond out back is very low. I went out to see if I could find any frogs, and I saw many sitting in the mud that used to be the shallows. They didn't even jump away like they did earlier in the season. It's been a strange summer.
