Hole in the wall

A round absence of wall outside the rather ugly supermarket I pass most days on my way to and from work. The guy with the wooden staff just to the right of centre had a bad leg and was using it as a crutch - whether out of necessity or choice I don't know - and it looked as though he was rowing down the street.
