Being THAT One Daily

This eye is really an arm

I'm jealous.

So many people who make things get the sheer satisfaction of plunging their hands into what they do feeling surfaces, molding forms and generally getting up to their oxters in whatever medium they've carefully selected.

Apart from smelling like urine after a spot of fibre printing, what sort of real sense of physical achievement can photographer's really get from in their work?

Looking looking looking... BORING and DRY.

Gloss or Matt? Landscape or Portrait? Film or digital? B+Wh or Colour?
Jaysus, get a life.

Where's the delightful satisfaction of touch and smell and everything?
In fact we dinnae even look cause were so busy checking our bloomin' light meters.

Yeah that tree looks really rough and gnarled and oaky.
Yeah that flower looks so delicate light, soft and scented.
Yeah that fabric looks super sheer, tangy and metallic
Yeah that arm looks super soft and squidgy and creamy smooth.

But sweet mama is it the ultimate shadow game. I FEEL CHEATED.

Perhaps that's why everyone i know who photographs is a complete repressed, control freak and neurotic loon?

We all just need to play with our poo a bit more.
