In Dependance

Its amazing how a single empty space can create a void in the essence of the word Independence, and completely change its meaning, and the aura around it. But probably many countries, though self sustaining colonies now over a period of time, are still lacking behind in terms of basic amenities for life. I would not mention about the third world countries here, for I am not in a position to speak what the secretary general of the United Nations would have to speak.

My only point of view, here, is that any country, or its country men, when they start depending upon a third party for their existence, rather than tapping their own resources, building their own homes and harvesting their own food, the phrase ,An independent nation, becomes just a little tarnished, in terms of its spirit.

Developing, independent nations like India, which is emerging as one of the strongest nations in terms of growth, are the ones that need to build on the base which they have created since they have become self sustained. Seeing growth all around in terms of technology, outsourcing, good agriculture, and an industry which is ever thriving, and an increasingly powerful economy, and of course, and a change in paradigm shift in terms of policies being formulated for growth, you can do nothing but appreciate and wish for the graph to move only upwards.

If only such countries can help the struggling nations to cope up and stand on their own feet, it would not only help creating bilateral friendship between the countries and spread goodwill, but it will also be an experience from which one can take back home the message of importance humanitarian volunteering to mankind, and to the world on a larger scale.

Though the evils of corruption, poverty and crime rate are a cause of concern, with threats to internal security from within and outside a major issue in the country now, it is bound that the country would tend to get bogged down, and the common man would take some time to believe in his neighbor and thus lives for himself more, and less for the country. But as they say, it is only the inspiration for a better tomorrow of the country for your children to live in, that makes a man to move from a human to humane.

Reminds me again, of two lines from a Poem

"....Where the mind is led forward by Thee into ever-widening thought and action;
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.."
- Rabindranath Tagore
