Earhart Lands - First Woman to Cross Atlantic!

Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic on June 18, 1928. She touched down in Carmarthen Bay after an exhausting 21-hour flight from Newfoundland. The plan, was for her to land in Southampton where a civic reception was waiting for her, but Burry Port was to be the place famed for her first 'port' of call in the UK .... or was it?

Villagers of nearby Pwll, beg to differ, claiming the landing took place on their beach. A bitter row has broken out between the two villages, according to the website WalesOnline. Both villages wanting the forthcoming film to use their stretch of the coast.

Either way, I'm sure the Hollywood producers will use whichever beach suits them, either Rhosilli on the Gower if they feel like using something local or a choice of many beaches in the States.

We spent the afternoon at the beach, digging to Australia, enjoying the sunshine and drawing huge pictures in the sand.

I took a few minutes to capture the foreground rocks of the harbour wall with lighthouse in the background. I hope you like it!
