Sail the World's Seas

Trade is not what it used to be. A couple of hundred years ago, men would sail out to trade in faraway lands, would stay away from home for years, while loosing many crew members during that journey. It's more easy now, but still these ships stay at the world's oceans for months, sometimes even at one place if the economy works against them. So I guess, this departure from (formerly) the world's largest sea port is still a special moments for those aboard, albeit a bit different from departures in the 17th Century.

This should have been a shot of the ms Westerdam, with 936 ft one of the largest cruise ships, but the light was less when it passed moments before. Departures of this ship are also still a special occasion, when the people living near the river come and wave the passengers goodbye, as they have done for the past century or so.

The alternative was this heron, but thought this one was slightly more interesting.
