Day by day

Misty morning

Our arrival at Hornsund was shrouded in mist and a safari looked very unpromising. I could only see @ 2m outside of our room window. However, the mist began to lift and landscapes shots from the ship seemed like a good option. I didn't go on the safari to Burgerbukta, but did go on the afternoon safari to Brepollen where I saw the last polar bear. It was climbing over the isthmus to go back to the eastern side of Spitzbergen harrying tern nests on the way and being in turn harried by the terns.
The end of the glacier is fabulous to see with its huge cliffs, caves, and pistol shot calving.
The afternoon we sailed to Samarinvargen where we had a BBQ on deck.
