two wheels on my wagon

My father was a Gallovidian at heart. As part of a role he developed to suit himself, he travelled the length of Galloway visiting blacksmiths, joiners, undertakers, small builders.... And because he had been brought up in St John's Town of Dalry, he knew the paths and the people like the back of his hand. He was popular through the region. Places like Kirkcudbright, Palnackie, Twynholm, Dundrennan..... and scores of others, were the highspots of his daily travels.

He always used to seem to pick up things on his travels - given to him by his many cronies. Fascinating objects. I have no idea where these wheels came from, but they now sit in my back garden. They would be lovely, wouldn't they, with a clean down and a lick of paint? Or would they?

He died suddenly of a heart attack one night in 1994 at the age of 72. He was a good and kind man who had a very rough time in life but who never faltered in his generosity.
