"Reconciliation", Stormont, Belfast

- Backblip - Northern Ireland Day 15

Our last day, and I felt this image of hope and reconcilation in the country, made a fitting end to my Blip entries here. It depicts a man and a woman embracing each other across barbed wire.

Inscription :-
Created by Josephina De Vasconcellos, it was presented by Coventry Cathedral and Sir Richard Branson. Identical sculptures have been placed on behalf of the people of Coventry in Hiroshima, Berlin and Jerusalem. The sculptures remind us that human dignity and love will triumph over disaster and bring us together in respect and peace.

After walking up the mile long avenue up to the Stormont Buildings, we visited to the highly recommended Ulster Folk Museum before heading to the ferry from Larne to Troon. A certain amount of interest in the Belfast Trussed Roof in the Coalyard area of the Museum - I wonder why?
