Yamini

Yamini was an overnight concert on the ocassion of the 64th Independence Day of India, conducted by SPIC MACAY.

Got a chance to attend this with my close friends on the night of 14th. We sat through the classical music rendition of Shankamnarayan, went out for a midnight buffet, and between these both, had to fix a flat tyre at 1:00 AM in the night.

Came back for an awesome piece of Jugalbandi [ Jugalbandi is usually referred to that genre of Indian music when two instruments are played in sync. This was of a Tabla and the Mohan Veena. Mohan Veena is nothing but the Guitar played in a Veena style. To call it an experience of its own would be an understatement. We all gave a standing ovation to Shri Viswa Mohan Bhatt, who was on the Mohan Veena, and enthralled all of us with some simply amazing music.

Came back home at 4:30 am in the morning and crashed.

The surprise of the night was when one of my cousins came to the concert, thinking it was a rock concert ! :D
