Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Seattle houseboatsj

Here's a peek-a-boo glance at a dock of older houseboats. Now known as a floating home, it is a house on a raft semi-permanently moored to a dock and attached to city utilities. There are about 500 legal floating homes now left from several thousand after WWll. They used to be a very inexpensive way for a UW student, perhaps, to live - A shack on floating logs. But then they started gaining status and getting fancier and now the high end ones I can see from my roof deck (here's another view) are VERY expensive. Some even have basements. ( I put this link in to see if it works...) tomorrow I'll try to blip some from the water....
