Sanctuary

Boo! another miserable day. We visited the horse sanctuary (for the girls) and then on to the local air museum (for me mainly). In one corner was a collection on battered aero engines recovered from wartime crashes, of which there must have been hundreds in East Anglia as bombers fell out the sky - often due to technical problems or pilot error rather than any German intervention.
Tough times. They were living - and dying - on the edge of technical knowhow in the battle for weapons supremacy.
