Allotments

Woke up early and it was nice and sunny out, so woke the dog up and tried to get out the house without waking the other half. By the time I got dressed found the lead and the poo bags, it was cloudy again. 100 yards down the road it started to rain a little, so a change of route. Took a circular route do if it did rain harder it would not be so far to run.

Ended up walking past the Allotments, and managed to get this shot thought the wire link fence. The onions looked so good and can only imagine how good they tasted. Over the last couple of year we have started to grow some veggies and you really do notice the difference.

Not sure i would want to take on and allotment plot, you have to be totally committed to working on it all the time. For people in other parts of the world who have not heard of allotments, below is some brief info and a link if you are interested in more information. Allotments History

What is an Allotment?

In the UK, allotments are small parcels of land rented to individuals usually for the purpose of growing food crops. There is no set standard size but the most common plot is 10 rods, an ancient measurement equivalent to 302 square yards or 253 square metres.

Allotment Land Ownership

The land itself is often owned by local government (parish or town councils) or self managed and owned by the allotment holders through an association. Some allotments are owned by the Church of England.
