Simon Munnery performs La Concepta

Another piece of surreal, eclectic, unique comedy genius from Simon Munnery, who for me best personifies what Fringe comedy should be - unafraid to take risks, skewed and very intelligent. Or as Munnery would say when joking about the labours of Sisyphus, "requires background reading". And his show, Self-employed, is on at The Stand I, the oldest year-round comedy venue in Edinburgh.

A few years ago, he adjourned to a nearby bar with half his audience in tow and had them pass around a 30-foot scarf with his favourite poem knitted on it, and people read out the words one by one as they passed through their fingers, like human cassette heads, and the line between performer and audience disappeared.
