Summer window

Three worlds

Web's of the Argiope genus of spiders are unique because of the dense white zig-zag 'stabilamentum'. This spider (Argiope aurantia) built her web outside my bedroom window. For the past several weeks I have been watching her grow fat on insects attracted at night by the light coming through my window. I was outside taking pictures of her when my mother walked into my room to see where I was and looked out the window. In one picture, you can see the beautiful spider and her web, a reflection of the world that the spider sees (including me with my camera), and my mother inside our house.
