Mist on the crags

It was quite cool last night (about 4C) and when the alarm went off at 5am the sky was clear and still - perfect conditions for mist. So I headed for the highest part of the wall, set up my camera and watched as it rolled in and out of the hollows, over the crags and along the wide, shallow valleys that typify this part of Northumberland.

Shortly after this shot was taken, the sun rose and it's diffused light warmed and intensified all the colours. I preferred the coolness and serenity of this part of the dawn though.
