Edinburgh Jam...

Not a Lothians Preserve that you spread on toast but a big open format skate comp and the first one for the new Edinburgh skatepark.

Today I put my official SkateboardScotland TeeShirt on and helped out with the judging and intersperced photographing for the Edinburgh jam which will hopefully turn into a yearly thing. The last weekend in August. Got a nice ring to it!

It was a good turn out, and in fact it was a huge participant comp as well which is a right bugger trying to judge. We had to split the various age groups into smaller groups to help keep eyes on everyone and leave enough space to skate in.

This is Blair. He and a couple of skaters came all the way down from Dundee for the day. Blair is one of the smoothest skaters I've ever met. Everything he does just looks so easy and effortless. This bench is about 3 feet high and he just leisurely (and at speed) popped up straight on top of it and executed a textbook K grind right across it.

If you'd like to see him in action, check out some of his YouTube footage.
