Barnacle soup

If you've not been to Viva Mexico on Cockburn Street it's probably currently the best place in town for refried beans since the Haw House shut down several years ago now that Coconut Grove's aren't as nice as they used to be. Went there last night with ex-colleagues Rodti and Alan and got a free reound of drinks after a chef had to shift Alan out of his seat to reset the circuit breaker he'd somehow managed to break.

It's been a while since I had a fully-functioning bicycle and a weekend morning so went for a little trundle this morning. Would have done the usual innocent railway-milton street-portobello prom (running on the bit you're not allowed to bicycle on) - seafield road - salamander street - commercial street - cycle path to roseburn - fountainbridge - viewforth - meadows 17-mile job but spent too long pottering around the rocky shores of Portobello trying some long-exposure watery shots. Almost had a couple of accidents with camera and wee but splashy waves and spent a good twenty minutes on the wrong white balance setting and I really need to pay more attention to what's happening around my feet when standing on rocks when the tide is on its way in but generally a pleasant daybreak with not a soul but mine around.

Might have a go at some groynes tomorrow using a slightly higher vantage point if only to avoid the camera strap dangling in the nasty salty water.
