artichoke

Gorgeous day, spent mainly in the garden - clearing a path around the house which had actually disappeared under a forest of weeds. Hard work but satisfying. Everything is starting to drop now - the bracken, a few leaves, the apples, but it's a nice time of year. And we have a few plums, for the first time ever!

This is 'the' artichoke' - I moved and it's a bit spindly, but the flower is extraordinary - it's just emerging and will be bright purplish-blue with a delicious smell.
