It interesting how much bread tells you about the national character of a country. Most traditional Swedish bread is fairly sweet and with herbs and spices like aniseed and fennel. A little too sweet for me. There are lots of nice crisp breads as well.
British bread is...well...ready-sliced and easy to put into the toaster. To be fair, there is nice bread to be found here if one really makes an effort to find it.

Since my grandfather was a master baker of German descent, I reserve the right to be picky about bread. I'm trying to make breads similar to the ones I grew up on, but it's not easy for an amateur. But it's way better than Hovis...
