Igorot Dancers

An extract from yesterday's parade at Session Road.

The parade was for Baguio City's 101st Charter celebration. Igorots are people from the Cordilleran region of Luzon in the Philippines. As dance is one identifier of any culture, that of the Igorot is no exception. As said in one article about them, their dances range from self-expression to rituals and ceremonies. "Original Igorot dances were to appease ancestors and Gods, to cure ailments, to secure victory in war, ward off bad luck, insure bountiful harvests, favorable weather, and mark milestones in the cycle of life."(everything2.com)

**Here is the colored version showing the dancers' faces :)
