Jacked Up

I'd imagine that anyone Dundee based has seen this looming over the city today. A jack-up-rig at the city docks. A similar one seen arriving here.

A jack-up rig is a type of mobile offshore oil and gas drilling platform that is able to stand still on the sea floor, resting on a number of supporting legs. The supporting columns may be moved up and down by a hydraulic or electrical system. The whole rig can also be jacked up when the supporting legs touch the seafloor. During transit, the platform floats on its hull and is typically towed to a new location by offshore tugs.

The platform had been "jacked-up" overnight and has been ominous all day like a 500ft, 3 legged metal alien striding up the river tay to attack Dundee.

I can't begin to imagine the incledible view of the city and firth of tay from atop there!
