Back to the Past

We had been persuaded to visit the Great Dorset Steam Fair by my lovely daughter. Her partner?s family run a tool shop in West Bromwich and have a stand there every year and he was working on the stand. We had no idea what to expect at all, thought it might just be like the small steam section at the Burwharton Show. I found a cute B & B in nearby Stourpaine and then we drove on to the show ground.

It is HUGE! Suddenly we felt as if we were stepping back in time, smoke, engines, noise from steam organs, music of all sorts, massive ancient machinery, lovingly restored.

I chose this picture because I thought it looked good in the evening light, but also behind the steam engine you can see more massed on the brow of the hill, lots of smoke ? really atmospheric.
