The Caller at the Door

If I never see another sherry or whisky glass emerging from a box liberated from the storage space, it will be too soon.

We thought we had all the glasses artistically arranged in the new cupboard only to have to find a space for more. I had no idea we had so many.
But there are just so many that are needed, the rest will be a crystal find at the charity shop.

Autumn is knocking at the door today.
This morning there were leaves falling off the tree in front of the Dower House and leaving a thin carpet of golden brown on the grass in front of the window

Now even though I love the bare skeletons of trees in the winter, I don't feel ready for seeing them again so soon.

It seems a minute ago that the leaves were appearing all freshly green on the trees in the Meadows and I'm not yet prepared for the change in seasons.
Nor apparently are the people sitting and lying in the sun on the grass. They too are trying to postpone the advent of colder autumnal weather.
