Roanaby

The wind has died but been replaced by fog, in Deerness, at least. I first visited the garden in the old quarry at Grindigar to look for migrants. There were several spotted flycatchers, blackcaps etc. I walked the road to Skail and was surprised at the heavy swell. I suppose the high Southeasterly winds we've been having were the cause. I took this photograph and walked along to the reserve at Mull Head. The waves were smashing against the cliffs. I went over to the Brough of Deerness and had my coffee overlooking the turmoil. I might have been more comfortable in the ruined chapel, but a spotted flycatcher was using it as a perch to hunt from, so I left it to it.
