The Matthew came back into Bristol Docks late yesterday and went up to Redcliffe Wharf where she was built about 14 years ago. She is a replica of Cabot''s vessel that took him to discover Newfoundland. Normally she takes tourists on local trips but this time she had been dressed as a dragon ship and taken part in filming on the south coast. The head and tail were removed this morning and will be stored in a Bristol warehouse until the film is released at which time the Matthew will go to London and have the head and tail replaced to publicise the opening. It was fun talking with the crane operator and the crew who came to do the dismantling. The latter are also building the stage in Hyde Park for the Proms in the Park - 'I get myself lost when that racket starts' said one of the guys!
