Abundant September....

September is such an abundant month ... apples, pears and plums in gardens ... blackberries and damsons in the hedgerows .... mushrooms in the fields.

A friend called today to ask if I wanted any Victoria Plums as they were finally ripe. It didn't take long to fill the basket and now I'll need to start cooking .... jam, chutney, stewed ....
