The disappeared

Become a bus driver with First... and find yourself having to walk home!

When you consider how many miles these things travel, I suppose it should be no surprise when they occasionally break down.

But right in front of hundreds of shoppers and tourists in Bristol city centre? I reckon there were a couple of red faces here.

We were in Bristol for two reasons: (i) to do a spot of important clothes shopping, having for once shunned the out-of-town Cribbs Causeway shopping centre to sample the delights of the city instead; and (ii) to check out the organic food festival that was taking place at the Harbourside.

We had mixed results with the shopping and we ended up opting out of the festival altogether. We arrived late in the day and although the event was in its final stages, they still wanted five quid a head to get in.

I'm not a huge fan of paying to get into an event that is partly about selling you things. (And I think using the word 'festival' implies that it is a free public celebration that everyone can take part in.) But to pay to watch them take the stands down is even more unpalatable.

Never mind. It was still an enjoyable afternoon out.
