Benny

Benny is probably one of the most enthusiastic and peppy animals (including humans) in our neighborhood. He is a Welch Corgi and he comes from a long line of herding dogs.

When at the summer cottage he does not have to be on a leash and can run free. The property is on open range with an adjacent ranch which raises Black Angus cattle. When the cattle stray onto Benny's land he uses the herding skills that reside in his genes and chases them back onto their land.

Although Benny is nearly four years old, he still has the energy and alertness of a puppy. Walking him is an exercise in restraint, requiring full energies to hold him back as he tugs at the leash.

The name Corgi is reportedly composed of the Welsh "cor" (dwarf) and "ci" (dog).
