Roslin Glen

According to the Scottish Wildlife Trust, Roslin Glen is:

"a native oakwood in a steep-sided glen that has remained fairly untouched. The mixed deciduous woodland has over 200 species of flowering plants, 60 species of breeding birds and a rich lichen flora. The reserve is part of the Roslin Glen SSSI designated for its broad-leaved woodland."

We went for a gorgeous walk in the glen today. It was only about 3 hours in total, but between the scrambling under fallen trees, navigating the mud and trekking up and down some steep slopes, it felt like a reasonable walk. The glen has a wonderful variety of tree species, with lots of ferns and lush undergrowth, and the whole experience is enhanced by the sound of the river gurgling in the distance, at the base of the glen.

My photos were a bit blurred, as I didn't have the tripod with me and it was pretty dark under the canopy. This is a detail on one of the fallen trees.
