Don't tread on me

I saw this little guy slithering through the grass. The little TMGs were with me and were supremely interested. The snake assumed a threatening pose as seen here; however, it is not a dangerous creature. Ironically, the youngest TMG mistakenly stepped on the snake as he ran by. Fortunately neither the snake nor the youngest TMG was injured.

I particularly like this image and how the snake was caught in his threatening pose. Notice how his tongue is also sticking out and the color is impressive.
