Nosh time at the Highland Cow Cafe

My wife and I go for a cycle ride whenever it is our day off and when the weather permits. Monday is our day.

Today we cycled out of Portree on the Struan road, crossed the river Snizort and climbed the hill to the beginning of the forestry road that leads to Skeabost. nWe particularly enjoy forestry roads because it is away from the traffic and allows us to enjoy the wildlife and scenery.

We were about three quaters of the way to Skeabost when we came upon a herd of Highland Cattle. There was this wee group where the young heifers were enjoying a good drink.

Highland cattle may look fierce with their shaggy coats and large horns but they are in fact the gentlest of creatures and a real pleasure to be near.
