Busy bee

I've been out to Prebbleton late today to meet up with the pig hunter.

No pigs were harmed this time and we enjoyed a drink and catch up. Prebbleton is within the Selwyn District where the earthquake was centred. It's a big district and Prebbleton didn't look any different to Christchurch (Prebbleton is a 20min drive from home). Someone at work who lives near Prebbleton says it's referred to by locals as 'Wobble Town' now. There was no detectable wobbling or shaking while I was there ;-)

I took a wander through one of the local grave yards. Sadly many of the older headstones have tumbled in the quake and an old historic building on the edge was cordoned off. The Anglican church is wood and fared better than the brick Union church down the road, now cordoned off and unusable.

The blossoms in the grave yard were glorious and won out over the damage. Sometimes you just have to go with raw and splendid beauty.
