Chicks

Another instalment in the chicks sequence today ... the 3 survivors (can you spot them all ?) are doing well and are starting to look like scruffy mini Light Sussex now. I snapped this this morning and they were all very wary and ran off into the bushes.

These wee guys are now 27 days old and running free and growing naturally at their own pace, ranging with their flockmates from dawn to dusk.

Compare these chicks to this 27 day old broiler kept in an intensive system where life is a brief & brutal 39 days from hatching to being culled.
