Iceland Poppies

The buds of these flowers have taken months to develop. I thought I would miss them because they are growing over the septic tank, but the digging up was delayed for a week while I was away.

The photographing of these would have made a good YouTube video. There was a very gusty nor'wester blowing and I was grappling with a big sun umbrella to get the light I wanted. The poppies were waving about erratically and I was trying to hold both the camera still and the umbrella steady so that I could take advantage of the momentary lull between gusts. A couple of times I nearly took flight.
