using 17-40 Canon L lens on my EOS 5D MkII - even at 17mm the DOF is superb. I focused on his hands, which puts the paints in the foreground very out of focus, and even the paper nearest the camera is out of focus.

shot in Raw, slight post processing to correct colour balance. No cropping.
