Skimmer

This is the face of a determined man. The eyes are mocking the back wall. The hands are not simply holding a stone. They caress it. They impart power into the stone. For, once unleashed, the stone is longer a part of the man. So, at this moment, they must be as one together. They are a whole, to be separated only when the man unleashes his grip, but having imparted just the right amount of spin. Towards the back wall. And towards glory and victory.

Or, at least, this is what I see in this shot. I'll leave it to Richard to let you know how far he skimmed his stone, if he so wishes.

We come to Scotland often. And when Richard mentioned a while back that the World Stone Skimming Championships were taking place on Easdale this weekend, we thought it would make for a good fun weekend away. An excuse to take a couple of days off work, but also to meet up with a fellow Blipper and just to have a cool time doing something that is, quite frankly, pointless.

So, its been a great weekend so far. As I write this the wifi in our house is down, so apologies for not posting this sooner. Its been a pleasure to meet you, Richard, as well as Sarah and Fred. Delightful company. And James, too. The little sod who showed us all up when it came to skimming stones.
