Impossible is nothing

In my blip the other day I hinted to something to fill a gap whilst waiting for supply work to come in. Well...I'm in France! The cyclist in the photo is an inspirational guy called James Golding. James today started cycling from Calais to Bonneville in the French Alps for Macmillan Cancer Support. I'm here supporting him and acting as his photographer!

James is a pretty inspirational guy. He has a story to keep you captivated on every word that is spoken.

James was diagnosed at the age of 28 with an 11.5 inch tumour between his bowel, kidneys and spine. He underwent treatment to which he then became allergic to, which led to in Feb 2009 James being given a less than 5% chance of survival. He spent 7 months in hospital including a good chunk of that time in intensive care. He endured countless operations including one that placed his bowel outside of his body and then another quite a while after to place it back. On the 23rd of July 2009 he was given the all clear.

in June this year he started a journey from LA to cycle across America to finish in Miami on the 23rd of July one year after he had been given the all clear. He was doing the ride for Macmillan, Coppafeel and Livestrong. 40 miles outside of New Orleans, Louisiana a truck travelling at 70mph hit James' riding companion and James took the secondary impact... his riding companion. They both travelled some way down the road before stopping and suffered injuries. James had significant road rash, rib injuries and other injuries. His riding companion suffered significant injuries that he will be recovering from for a while to come but he's alive!

More on James' plight and the cycle across America

James' story is one of determination, tenacity and courage. I am proud to be involved in this challenge to get to the alps!

Good Luck James!
