The Step Pyramid of Zoser

The Pyramid of Djoser (Zoser), or Step Pyramid is at Saqqara,near Memphis, Egypt. It was built for the burial of Pharaoh Djoser by his chief minister Imhotep, during the 27th century BC. It is the central feature of a mortuary complex in an courtyard surrounded by ceremonial structures and decoration.

This is considered to be the first Egyptian pyramid and consists of six platforms of decreasing size built on top of one another. The pyramid originally stood 62 metres (203 ft) tall and was clad in polished white limestone.
