Kompani Linge monument

This memorial at Glenmore near Aviemore is dedicated to a Noewegian resistance group formed in March 1941 in Britain originally for the purpose of performing commando raids in occupied Norway. It was organized under the leadership of Captain Martin Linge, hence the name.

Their initial raids in 1941 were to Lofoten (Operation Claymore) and Måløy (Operation Archery), where Linge was killed. Their best known raids were probably the Norwegian heavy water sabotage. Other raids included the Thamshavnbanen sabotage.

The group trained at Glenmore and therefore are commemorated there. The views from here were brilliant and the food in the restaurant at the visitor centre fantastic - a great place to stop, look and eat!
