The hills in the distance, behind the departing fishing boat, stand 60 miles away on the Scottish mainland. The Applecross Forest (a treeless forest, a designation for a deershooting area) also features one of the highest roads in the UK, rising more than 2,000 feet on the Bealach na Ba.

You know what they say: if you can see the mainland hills, it is about to rain. If you can't see the mainland hills, it is raining. Sure.
